Disease as a Source of Art
This is not an exhibition about illnesses, but about the art that is created with its inclusion. This is not an exhibition about the artist’s body, but about the body of a painting. The project grew out of the conviction that there is a connection between injury and creativity, the artist’s or author’s efficiency and the work. The exhibition gathers works created in changed circumstances, in a condition exacerbated by disability. Exceptions include healthy artists who create poignant works that interpret the phenomenon of sickly images.
Artists: Marta Antoniak, Michał Bałdyga, Zuzanna Bartoszek, Ludomir Benedyktowicz, Grupa Bergamot, Beata Ewa Białecka, Adam Chmielowski, Małgorzata Dawidek, Andrzej Dłużniewski, Józef Gielniak, Maksymilian Gierymski, Artur Grottger, Magda Hueckel, Maria Jarema, Emilia Kachnicz, Lidia Kot, Katarzyna Kozyra, Viola Kuś, Ludwik de Laveaux, Jacek Malczewski, Andrzej Okińczyc, Władysław Podkowiński, Witold Pruszkowski, Joanna Rajkowska, Jan Rembowski, Zbigniew Rogalski, Julian Stańczak, Marian Stępak, Władysław Strzemiński, Alina Szapocznikow, Tomasz Tatarczyk, Zygmunt Wasilewski, Karolina Wiktor, Witold Wojtkiewicz, Stanisław Wyspiański, Bergamot (Volha Maslouskaya, Raman Tratsiuk).
