Education

People with disabilities

We invite people with intellectual disabilities to take advantage of our educational offer – school, kindergarten, integration and therapeutic groups. For people with disabilities, a visit to the museum can be both a challenge – when they discover its space and atmosphere and the rules of behavior there – and an opportunity to develop communication and social skills. Above all, however, this meeting with art is to be an impulse to awaken cognitive possibilities, creativity, artistic sensitivity and manual creativity.

Methods of work:

  • The classes are adapted to the needs of a specific group – when organizing classes, we are open to cooperation and suggestions from the visiting facility, teachers or therapists.
  • The meeting is carried out taking into account the degree and type of disability.
  • Conversations and activities can be supported by didactic means used by participants on a daily basis in facilities (including alternative communication, e.g. pictograms).
  • Classes are based on conversation and interaction between participants, interspersed with various activating activities, including stimulating sensory perceptions (vision, touch, hearing, or even taste), using props (e.g. costumes, artist tools), pantomime (e.g. transforming into a character depicted in a painting).
  • Depending on the expectations of therapists / teachers, the meeting can take place entirely in the gallery spaces or can be combined with art classes in a workshop room.

We offer groups topics available in the PRESCHOOL AND SCHOOL section – most of the proposals offer the possibility (after previous consultation) of adapting them to the needs and abilities of people with intellectual disabilities.

We accept reservations for lessons by phone: 61 8568 136 from Monday to Friday from 8.00 – 15.30. When reporting groups, please provide information about the degree and type of disability and any practical details (wheelchairs, alternative communication).

My Adventure at the Museum / 44th Edition

BRUSHES IN MOTION.

Does the figure in the painting move or is it just an illusion? How to show movement on a surface or in space? While exploring the museum galleries, pay attention to MOTION, to how the artists evoke the feeling of moving elements they placed in the work of art and propose your own motion! It counts the approach to the topic, the accuracy of execution, as well as the inspiration of museum collections.
