Since the 1950s, the Paper and Leather Conservation Studio has been providing comprehensive conservation care for thousands of museum collections on paper-based substrates – graphics, drawings, photographs, archival documents and antique parts of library collections, including incunabula and collections of leather objects. Due to the special sensitivity of these monuments, it is necessary to carry out regular preventive conservation activities, based on regular reviews and monitoring of the preservation status. The scope of conservation work is carried out in close dependence on the degree of degradation of the object.
An important activity is the conservation work of making frames from acid-free materials – passe-partout and other specialized bookbinding works, such as frames and packaging dedicated individually for each relic, also for exhibitions.
