The Painting and Polychrome Wooden Sculpture Conservation Studio has been in the museum since 1904. Its main task is broadly defined conservational care of the thousands of museum collections of polychrome painting and sculpture, presented in permanent exhibitions, temporary exhibitions and stored in warehouses. Polychrome objects, from the earliest – ancient, to the most contemporary painting, are presented in all branches of the museum. An important part of the conservation activities is the constant supervision of painting collections, mainly consisting of regular reviews of the condition of museum items.
