The Music Instrument Conservation Studio specializes primarily in the conservation of historic stringed instruments, keyboard instruments, wind instruments, mechanical instruments, percussion instruments, as well as folk and exotic instruments. The scope of work depends on the condition of the object but also on the purpose of the actions. The concern of the conservators is also the preservation or restoration of the utilitarian values of the objects for concert and educational purposes. Members of the Colegium Musicorum Posnaniensium, Il tempo, Arte dei Suonatori bands, as well as such musicians as Simon Standage, Agata Sapiecha, Bartłomiej Nizioł, Bartosz Bryła, Andrzej Tatarski, Marek Toporowski, Waldemar Malicki and many others, played on the instruments from the museum collection.

The skills of conservators allow for the making of copies and reconstructions of instruments and their sculptural and carpentry decorations.

Since the beginning of the International Henryk Wieniawski Violin Making Competition in 1957, the Workshop has provided constant preventive care for the violins sent from all over the world.

A permanent element of work in the Musical Instrument Conservation Studio is the performance of conservation assessments and participation in specialized research projects of the Musical Instrument Museum.
